Great food but poor service
Probably the best salad ever! I’m just in love with their ceasar and brocoli salad! I am definitely coming back!
Best cafe in smith street 👍👍👍
We had the Asian scramble as well as the blue lip mussels spicy Nduja. Both were on the special items. We were recommended to swap the bacon with salmon to compliment the Asian flavours. It was really good, I hope this becomes a permanent item. The mussels were ok but salty and not so filling so good as a sharing item. We were seated outside and the they have flowers hung up which was picturesque.
This is such a beautiful cafe and deli with a coastline European town feel. Beautiful interior, courtyard and outside dining options. Beautiful thought out menu with fresh ingredients. Staff are friendly and helpful only let down by ok coffee which is disappointing being in Melbourne. Lucky the food and venue make up for it.
I can only vouch for Adam's comment below. The staff are all white, mostly blonde and cultivate boredom.(for diversity, you'll need to peer into the kitchen galley where the real talent lies) Ignoring people who don't fit a type is an art form at Alimentari.
I really liked this cafe, there's some interesting take on Australian brunch, I especially like the beautiful balance of the spices applied to the buffalo soldier and Corn fritters. Coffee is excellent too.
My favourite cafe to bring a friend from out of town. Beautiful food, fantastic menu and deli plus lovely friendly service set in a beautiful deco. Absolutely melbourne to a tea!
Stood there for 5 mins with wait staff walking all around us only to be told there’s no food left
Meats balls are yum but came out a little cold. Dined of the front. The app works great but could do with more dietary requirement options. EG add or take away an ingredient. Staff are great
Great coffee!Food is only available for takeaway now
Patience is rewarded Melbourne.
Love it most when open for dining in
I doubt the staff could make you feel less welcome if they tried. Well, I think they are actually trying. Make sure you have your beanie at hand if you expect the staff to acknowledge your existence. If your looking for early 2000's hipster arrogance, this place has ample.
Delicious coffee and lovely staff. A great way to start the morning!
One napkin for a meatball wrap! The whole thing exploded all over me. Totally destroyed my entire outfit. Was so mad I couldn’t eat the rest of it.
Great breakfast with GF & DF options! Although not listed on the menu, lots of options and delicious food.
Delicious food and nice venue.
Great little cafe. With good character
A northside institution with great service and food, if you want tasty Melbourne brunch I highly recommend. I'm personally a fan of the courtyard.
Great food to takeaway during this uncertain period. Recommend the panini and sandwiches. Rocky Road excellent too!
awesome venue, good coffee, great food and prompt, efficient, friendly staff
Great breakfast , coffee and a delicious egg benedict 😋
Caught up with my cousin for breaky on a Sunday. Ate outside but when went in was overwhelmed by the decor that made me feel very nostalgic, so will return again to eat inside, although it did seem very loud with customer chatter. Anyway ordered Coffee, tea, Bruschetta, and a Ginger cake, wanted to try the Portuguese tart but was not available, nor a second choice as their bakery had not supplied that morn or something. Was happy with the food and drink and staff friendly. Pricing ok, it came to about $25 ( I would say I'm your below average wage earner, so for some it probably be ok on price. Happy to return and try some other stuff and shop/look for goodies.
The shakshuka is really tasty, cumin, coriander and yummy eggs ! I loved to have breakfast here, I would definitely come back soon. The service is great ! The interior design make me think of Mediterranean places like old but with lot of charms! Great latte too and clean toilet 🚽!!
A regular go to for brunch. Quite busy on a weekend so expect a little wait.
Excellent coffee , nice ambience and awesome customer service
I've been to Alimentari in Collingwood a few times, it's a nice and laid back atmosphere for casual dining. The food and coffee is always great and so is the service.
Fabulous food, service, atmosphere.....
Smell like septic out the back. Perhaps land tax office could allow the landlord a break to upgrade the pipes?
Food was okay (although by 12:45pm on a Tuesday they had run out of most things). Took my mum here for her birthday lunch and the service was absolutely horrible and the waitress was incredibly rude. Will not be back. Brunswick Alimentari is much better!
Nice venue, a bit dark in this beatiuful rainy day. My experience unfortunately wasn't plesent. My coffee wasn't up to the price and expectation. So the barrista did clean the jar and put new milk in it. Which is nice. But happily and light-hearted steam and introduce water in the jar. You get a 4.5$ weak soy kind of arabica washed flavour, which is not unpleasant but not worth the price.
Good food, nice ambiance and service, there were a few menu items unavailable, but that's their policy. All in all quite good.
I like Italian food
Yummy food. Waiters took a while to remember us. Some organisational issues like lack of designated areas for waiters, perhaps!! Good coffees
Alimentary serves the freshest of salads, has nice outdoor seating too! The staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. Super nice relaxing atmosphere.
Very poor and rude service. The staff appears to be poorly trained and overwhelmed.
Very cool. Typical inner city restaurant.
Atmosphere was lovely, the host at the door was also nice. That’s where it ends- None of the food is fresh- Sandwiches were ok, salads were terrible, croutons were stale and hard and the other ingredients were not fresh. To top it all off my young daughter found a hair in her food. I would not recommend this place-
The place is beautifully decorated with a good atmosphere, and the food was okay but the service was glum.
Really rude and bad service (clearly not a 1off based on other reviews here). Ate in because I spotted a good looking panini at the counter. There were plenty, about 10. I ordered it from the waitress. She comes back after about 15mins and says they're all gone. I said there were heaps when I ordered, but she said well yeh but now they're gone (15mins after I ordered mine). Zero apologies. What's the point of taking the order if you don't place the order with the kitchen??? Staff otherwise generally rude and act like they're far too busy to be dealing with customers. Like a waitress having to take orders and speak to customers, crazy right?
Reasonable food. Extremely poor service, some very rude waitresses.
Pretty good food with average prices. Weekend surcharge of 10%.
Great place. Feels like a new York style Italian deli with quality food to match. We had toasted sandwiches and a main dish. The food was excellent. Will definitely come back. Family friendly as well.
A very elegant beautiful setting for a delicious lunch
It's impossible to have a bad experience here!
Best DECAF coffee I’ve ever had. Ask for it!!!
Very disappointing experience. Arrived just at the end of lunch and was told that the kitchen was closed but they could serve salad etc from the take away area. Went to order the chicken from the takeaway area and told that they can only bring salad from there. Maybe miscommunicated by the waiter, but makes zero sense. Why can you bring one dish but not another?
Best cafe we visited during our one week trip to Melbourne. The hot cake is delightful.
Delicious
